Below you will find my supplies list and a two page printable that has spices by cuisine: American, Chinese, Cuban, French, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Thai, and Vietnamese. As well as a combination shopping list and expiration chart. Use the Spices by Cuisine chart to discover the most common spices used in each cuisine you enjoy. Once you have decide which cuisine’s spices you want to keep on hand use the shopping list to mark off what you will need at the grocery. When you get home make sure you update the expiration date to ensure you always have fresh, flavorful spices on hand.

Supplies:
2 oz or 4 oz food safe glass jars with lids
spices
washi tape
felt tip marker, fine tip
Optional: scissors, funnel

Directions:

1. Wash all jars and dry throughly.

2. Cut a piece of washi tape to fit the width of your lid and add to lid.

3. Write your spice name on the washi tape.

4. Using a funnel, a rolled up piece of paper as a funnel to transfer spices from their store bought containers to your containers. If you are using 4 oz jars you may not need anything transfer the spices from their store bought containers to the new containers.

5. Add the lid to the jar and place in your cabinet, drawer, or pantry.

Pro Tip: When spices go bad they lose their flavor and you will need to use more of them to get the desired outcome. The best way to avoid spices going bad is to keep an expiration list and buy spices in a quantity you will actually use.
